[acrylic, ink, drawing media]
This is the beginning of a new series that I think I will call Soar-- focused on transformation-- these images to me seem suggestive of birds, butterflies, spirits, even florals perhaps-- evoking fragility and motion. I love the kind of ambiguity that brings the viewers imagination into play.
I am still working mostly with studies, getting an idea of how to make these work larger. That is an ongoing challenge I find-- translating processes that work on a smaller scale to larger scale. I am hoping to take that on this week. I think I will try gradually going larger-- maybe some 12x12 canvases next. Unless I'm feeling particularly brave...

Perfect name for this stunning piece. I know what you mean about translating smaller works onto larger canvases. Size can definitely change how I approach the surface. I'm looking forward to seeing how this series evolves...
Hi Elis, I think this piece is truly beautiful. Of course, on the web, it could be huge or tiny and we could not tell. The colors are fantastic and I like the little bit of tension between fragility and movement, too.
While I do not typically work small, I have found translating this kind of work to a larger scale to be a great challenge. I will be watching carefully how this works out for you. Can you ever imagine it being anything as large as 60 x 60? I love working large and I love this kind of gentleness, but the translation just does not seem to work quite like that for me.
Oh, go ahead and be brave, okay?
Have a Wonderful Day!
